Incorporated in December 1980, Glasvan Trailers Inc. opened for business on February 1st, 1981. At that time the Company operated from a small three bay facility with only six employees.

It's only product line was an FRP van built by Roussy Industries in London. From the very beginning Glasvan was committed to providing the very best equipment available, to the truck trailer industry and backing that commitment with full service and parts facilities. This dedication to the industry's needs allowed Glasvan Trailers to rapidly grow and prosper, in the face of a poor economy.

Within the first six months the service facility expanded to five bays, additional salesmen and service mechanics were hired and its first tractor for pick up and delivery of service work and new semi truck trailers was put on the road.

By the end of October 1982, Glasvan had outgrown the original building and moved to its current location at 1201 Aimco Blvd. in Mississauga. This move set the course for the company as it is today. The new facility had seven service bays plus a paint shop, a sizable parts warehouse and enough office space to last forever - or so we thought. However the continued commitment to trailer sales of the finest products available coupled with a shop with an enviable record of service excellence, and a large inventory of competitively priced parts soon resulted in another expansion.

By the fall of 1987,the shovels were in the ground and the facility underwent a major reconstruction to its present size. By this time additional highway tractors had been added to move out customers' semi truck trailers, mobile service trucks had been added to service their needs and parts trucks had been put on the road for fast parts delivery. Glasvan Trailers had eleven service bays including a state of the art downdraught paint booth, shot blast facilities, 10,000 square feet of parts warehouse space and had remodeled and expanded the parts showroom, service, reception and office areas.

In 1990, Glasvan Trailers Inc. acquired the distributorship for Great Dane Trailer Products and Glasvan Great Dane Trailer Sales Inc. was born. The Great Dane cargo and refrigerated semi trailer line is without question the most thoroughly designed and tested in the industry. As a result it has the well deserved reputation for being the finest, most reliable long heavy haul truck trailer on the road today. Great Dane's corporate motto, 'built better to last longer', is reflected in every detail of the trailer product line.

1993 saw more equipment lines being added. A line of terminal and highway certified shunt truck tractors was also added. Manufactured by Capacity of Texas, the trucks are designed for rugged service in the very demanding movement of truck trailers in large volumes. Capacity's exclusive 'Dura-Ride' air ride chassis and greatly improved driver ergonomics combine for efficient, low cost truck trailer shunting.

In 1996, Glasvan further expanded its product offering to include the innovative Landoll trailer product line for sale. Tilt Deck Trailers, Hydraulic Beaver Tails, Sliding Axles, Flatbeds and Detachable Goosenecks are all included in the Landoll trailer line up. In 2004, Glasvan recognized the requirement for a truck repair and maintenance facility. In order to further support our line of Capacity of Texas shunt trucks and trailers we opened a three bay repair facility in Mississauga. Located on the same property as Glasvan Trailers head office, it is situated conveniently in Ontario's trucking hub. The Glasvan Truck centre is fully equipped for all repair, maintenance, and modifications to today's hard working shunt tractors and trailers. Supported by 24 hour mobile technicians and a dedicated hydraulic tail float, the truck centre is set to support the shunt truck market of today.

The most recent addition to Glasvan was in early 2005 when we became Ontario's newest Chaparral trailer sales dealership. Chaparral, manufacturer of light weight all aluminum flat decks, can be built to your required specifications, and continue to round out our full complement of transport equipment.

Today after over 25 years, Glasvan Trailers Inc. has established itself as the premiere trailer sales and distributorship in the country. Five locations housing New and Used Equipment, Service, Parts, Mobile Repairs, Sandblast and Paint cover a major portion of the Canadian market. We now employ over 100 people in all areas of the operation and have over 30 service bays and 20,000 square feet of parts warehousing.

Going forward Glasvan's mission is to be responsive to the needs of the truck trailer market place, further develop all areas of our expertise and continue with our first basic statement to provide the very best equipment, superior service and extensive parts to the Canadian trailer market.
